Family Promise is Transforming Lives
Family Promise of the Triangle, established in 1994 as Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network (WIHN), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing emergency shelter, meals, and support services to families facing temporary homelessness in Wake County. Over the years, the organization has expanded its offerings to include prevention, rapid rehousing, transitional housing, and post-shelter stabilization programs. In 2016, it became Family Promise of Wake County, and in 2023, it adopted its current name to better reflect its broader services and regional impact in helping families secure permanent housing and stability. In 2023, 100% of Family Promise’s shelter guests transitioned to stable, permanent housing or achieved positive housing outcomes. Notably, they are one of only three emergency shelters in Wake County that allow families to stay together, regardless of the ages or genders of children and parents. This ensures families can remain united without having to choose between staying together and finding a safe place for their children to sleep. The organization also offers a comprehensive continuum of services and partnerships that guide families from homelessness to safe, affordable, permanent housing.
