Corporate expansion projects are in the process of bringing over 9,600 jobs to the Raleigh-Durham Triangle, resulting in a combined investment in excess of $2.8 billion. These announced expansion projects will be bringing new jobs and investment dollars over the course of many years.
The businesses that have proudly chosen to expand into the region have included industry stalwarts such as Amazon, Fujifilm, Pendo, KBI Biopharma and Fidelity Investments, among a variety of others.
When asked why they chose the Triangle for their corporate expansion projects, these are a few of the reasons they gave:
The combination of talent, technical and academic training in this region is outstanding, which is critical as we are expanding our impact by serving more clients and patients from this new facility. – KBI Biopharma
We want to hire here, we are bias to grow here. We wanted to work with the State to have a motivation to hire here instead of Denver or Rochester or Austin, or Seattle, or San Francisco or the Bay Area. This grant that we received is fantastic because it lets us declare that where we’ve grown up is where we’re going to stay, and it’s where we’re going to have our headquarters. – Bandwidth
Our decision to keep our headquarters (and the corresponding job growth) here in Durham County versus moving it to the greater Boston area wasn’t easy at all. What it ultimately came down to was facility acquisition and build-out costs as well as community support “for growing a CRO-ready talent pool. – BioAgilytix
The company’s previous experience in North Carolina and the collaboration with the state’s local education institutions pushed Holly Springs over the top. Fujifilm’s presence in Research Triangle Park dates to 1996. – Fujifilm
Multiple metro regions were assessed before Fidelity picked the Triangle for what will be a Regional Center for its personal investing business. The region’s diverse talent pool “gave North Carolina a huge leg up”. – Fidelity Investments
