The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is a nonpartisan, 501c3 non-profit that is part of the Feeding America National Network of Food Banks. With a focus on feeding children, families and seniors, they recover and distribute over 9 million pounds of food each year to seven counties in North Carolina: Chatham, Durham, Edgecombe, Johnston, Nash, Orange, and Wake. The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle also teaches skills for self-sufficiency, including culinary job skills, shopping and cooking healthy on a budget, and how to grow food. Their vision is to create a hunger-free and healthy community.
Last Friday, June 16, 2023, APG Companies volunteered with the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle to be Child Food Hub Helpers. Working together at their Child Food Hub warehouse in Durham, APG Companies sorted over 2,000 lbs. of sweet potatoes. Potatoes deemed edible were bagged and will be given to those facing hunger. Inedible sweet potatoes will be used as compost at the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s Farm and Learning Gardens, which provides locally grown, chemical-free produce to those in need.
